BANGKOK, Sept 25 (TNA) – Thailand’s new Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, was formally sworn in before His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen on Wednesday evening at Amporn Sathan Residential Hall, Dusit Palace.
His Majesty the King granted an audience to the Prime Minister and the 35 newly appointed ministers, delivering an address to guide them in performing their duties.
Speaking with a trembling voice and teary eyes, Anutin said all ministers had received the King’s blessings and royal advice. He believed the Cabinet was profoundly honored and would dedicate their utmost ability, their lives, and their intellect to repay the royal grace. He called it the highest blessing they had ever been granted.
The government immediately held a special Cabinet meeting to finalize its policy statement for Parliament, which the Prime Minister expects to deliver early next week.
The policy will focus on addressing four urgent areas: stimulating the economy including schemes like co-payment scheme and reducing energy costs, maintaining security especially on the Thai-Cambodian border, managing natural disasters, and tackling social issues like drug crime and online scams.
Anutin announced a new dimension of work, stating that the Cabinet would now operate non-stop and that meetings would be held only as needed, rather than strictly once a week, to maximize efficiency. -819 (TNA)
